Annette's Story

I was born in Bramley in Leeds and moved to Blackpool when I was 5. I remember attending church and had a faith as a little girl. I was about 7 or 8 when I stopped going to church.

3 weeks after my 18th birthday I started work in the casino business and just before my 20th birthday I started work on the cruise ships in the casino. I worked on the cruise ships for about 10 years. It was on a cruise ship that I met my husband.

I had my son when I was 29 and moved to Las Vegas to be with my husband when my son was 11 weeks old. During my 2 years in the U.S. I suffered mental and physical abuse off my husband, before my dad came and ‘rescued’ Jordan and me and brought us home to Witney.

My life since has been an upward struggle. I have come through depression, anxiety and panic attacks and have started to slowly rebuild mine and Jordan’s lives. In January 2005 I joined Oasis Family Church and I haven’t looked back. I am a much calmer and serene person and I believe this is due to my renewed faith in God and the unwavering support and fellowship of our church. I’d like to say a big Thank You to you all.
