Once upon a time there was a female leopard that had a cub. She hid it in the long grass. She saw a gazelle and went after it. When the female leopard was hunting she broke her leg and she died but the little leopard did not know that. The little leopard was left in the grass meowing for his mum 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours but she was nowhere to be seen. Up in the sky there was a toucan called Beaky, he overheard the little leopard and when he saw the little leopard in the grass he wondered where the little leopards mum had gone. In the distance Beaky the toucan saw a big male lion. He saw the lion was coming towards the leopard cub, the lion came closer and closer and closer. When Beaky saw he was coming closer he flew up in the air and called the lion names: "Oh you mangy flea bitten flea's armpit, your backside is more smelly than a compost heap!" The lion got so angry he started chasing Beaky but when the lion jumped up to get him, Beaky flew a bit further. This carried on until the lion gave up and walked away, completely forgetting about the leopard cub.

When he disappeared in the distance Beaky flew down and looked at the little leopard. It was very thin. Beaky knew that it would die soon so he went and got some berries from a berry bush. When the leopard cub had eaten the berries Beaky went to a water hole and got some water in his big beak. He went back and gave it to the leopard cub. Then he thought, I can't keep feeding this leopard cub, when it is bigger it will eat me. I am going to call you Lucky because you are lucky to be alive. Beaky know a female leopard that had lost her cub and Lucky had lost his mum. Beaky told the female leopard where Lucky was and then Beaky introduced the female leopard to Lucky and the female leopard adopted Lucky.

Two years later Beaky had a wife and she had five eggs in their nest. Beaky was pleased. The babies were born and Beaky was very pleased. He went to get food for his wife and babies. One day, when Beaky went to get some food he heard a noise - it was his wife. He went back and what he saw coming across the tree branch was a leopard. Beaky flew back and got between his wife and babies and the leopard he said "Please don't eat my babies it would only fill up your tail." Beaky looked into the leopard's eyes and said "Lucky is that you?" "Beaky is that you?" replied the leopard. "Yes.". Lucky jumped on him and gave him a great big lick it was like a great big bath.

Lucky did not eat Beaky's family. In fact they were the best of friends and visited each other every week.
